Watermelon – Lime – Cinnamon Popsicles!

According to the Ancient Romans, the “Dog Days” of summer refer to the hottest days of the year, known for sultry temperatures and a scorching sun that beams from the cloudless sky. From July 3 through August 11, the whole Northern Hemisphere is said to be doggin’ it, with little break from the heat until September is just within reach.

It comes as no surprise, then, that during this part of summer, the most hydrating and refreshing fruit is in season– watermelon! It’s funny how the earth takes care of us, isn’t it?

In honor of this lovely time, I’ve crafted a refreshing, 3-ingredient treat that you can enjoy at any time on these hot summer days…

Watermelon – Lime – Cinnamon Popsicles
With no refined sugars, these popsicles are an ideal treat for kids after the pool or beach and the easiest way to beat that after dinner craving. I’ve even been enjoying them after my morning runs as a way to hydrate for the day.


2-3 cups watermelon, chopped
Juice of 2 limes
1-2 teaspoons cinnamon, ground (depending on taste preference)

Blend ingredients until smooth. Taste and alter flavor if desired. Pour liquid into popsicle holders. Place in freezer for at least 3 hours or until firm/frozen. Remove and enjoy!

Recipe makes about 6-10 popsicles depending on what size holder you use. You can even use shot glasses if you don’t have popsicle holders!
